My Story

My name is Claire. I’m 53 years old, and I’ve called the Wolverhampton area home for more than two decades. I have two children, and having once been a single parent myself, I know first-hand how tough it can be to raise a family while trying to stay afloat.
I’ve always been an empathetic person, and in 2020 I felt a deep pull to give something back to the community — especially as the cost of living continued to rise and families were struggling more than ever. That’s when Momma Claire Bears Foodbank was born.

During that time, life wasn’t easy for me either. I was made redundant three times in just 18 months. In December 2020, with only £500 left in my account, I decided to pour my heart, time, and energy into launching the foodbank properly. With those funds, I was able to provide 50 families with a full Christmas dinner and essential groceries — something I will never forget.

Since then, the foodbank has grown beyond anything I could have imagined. By 2025, we have supported over 1,000 families. What began as a simple foodbank has expanded into a source of wider support: school uniforms, everyday clothing, toiletries, baby milk, and so much more.

We are deeply grateful for every single donation, every act of kindness, and every person who has helped us make a difference. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together and the impact it has had on families across the West Midlands.
